/ What we do
Inspire + Educate
We have worked with organisations large and small on day to day challenges and strategic direction setting. We bring that experience to help your people embrace the tools and methods to take a customer centric, system thinking approach.
Solving the the challenges of now or looking ahead to the next, we bring inspirational stories and real life examples that will build your skills and confidence in using service design to build success.
Learn + build new skills
Directly in person or online, we work with your teams on the challenges they bring, we inspire and then engage with the tools and methods that will empower your people to create better solutions for customers and your organisation.
Introducing tools and methods with examples and advice on how to use them, we take teams through the service design toolkit. From customer insight, problem framing, creativity and delivery, we develop take away skills that will be used every day.
Mentoring to Success
We believe in the change makers, the people who care, who are searching for innovation for their customers and their organisations. People with a sense of purpose, the desire to solve unsolvable problems and project to a positive purposeful future.
We are here to share our experience of solving problems and moving organisations forwards to help individuals collaborate and create future success.
"Fantastic course! Great balance between explaining the concepts of service design with real life examples to bring them to life, as well as practical application of service design tools in group workshops.”
/ The approach / toolkit
Service design balances economic and technological capabilities with humanity.
But the landscape has changed and organisations are moving with a sense of purpose and care for society and the planet. Technology needs to be accessible, safe and ethical. The benefits of business and public organisations need to be felt by all.
Our design model puts sustainability into the economics of business, ethics into technology delivery and finds equitable solutions for all.
This is at the heart of what we do and share across our executive education experiences.
/ The team
Our experience leading design teams and working with some of the worlds leading companies, startups and public bodies has inspired us to collaborate to develop a unique set of executive education and training experiences.
The challenges of reframing companies and organisations to address climate change, new consumers and purposeful strategic visions have brought us together to apply our combined approaches to work with the people who will create the change.
Clive Grinyer
Leader, Designer and Educator
Head of Service Design at the RCA and design leader at Samsung, Orange, Mclaren, Cisco and Barclays, Clive has been at the forefront of product, digital and service design practice and education.
Clive worked with design consultancy Ideo in San Francisco and London before co-founding the consultancy Tangerine. He went on to lead design teams in product, digital and service design and was described by Creative Review as “a passionate advocate for the transformational potential of design for some three decades. Today’s focus on the value of digital product design and on design’s value in leading customer experience in the UK is, in large part, due to his work”.
Clive has taught design to both students and organisations throughout his career. In 2017 he became visiting lecturer at the Royal College of Art (RCA) and was then appointed Head of Service Design. During his time there, he set up a series of Challenge Labs focusing on research and projects around Social Impact, Sustainability (Liveable Planet), Financial Services, Healthcare and the Future of Services. He went on to develop the Service Design Masterclass Executive Education programme and with them and his own company, has trained teams around the world. From the Bank of England, the Dorchester Hotel, Lego, manufacturing companies, social housing organisations, local authorities and fire and rescue services, he has experience of how service design tools, and the attitudes needed to deliver them, can transform every organisation.
In 2023 he became Director of Project Love, an exploration of how design can foster empathy and tolerance in ourselves, our communities and across society and now leads the charity Designing for Love.
Clive is a trustee of the Design and Technology Association, and is an examiner for Northumbria University and Sheffield Hallam, was chair of the DBA Design Effectiveness Awards and the Royal Society of Arts as well as Visiting Professor at Glasgow School of Art. He writes and presents at many international conferences and his book, Smart Products, was published in 2003 with his second book, Redesigning Thinking, published in early 2025.
Why Now + Next? “I have seen the impact of service design on organisations of all shapes and sizes and love taking people down that journey of transformation to achieve their purpose”
